Alert: Confusion of stamp fee for 1 month multiple entry visa
Recently, we have been notified by our valued customers for the changes in stamp fee for 1 month multiple entry visas. They did not understand why they were charged 95 USD for 1 month multiple entry visa instead of 65 USD at Vietnam airport. In fact, there are no changes for the stamp fee since the 1st January 2013 but there exists a misunderstanding in the amendment of Article 1 of Circular No. 190/2012/TT-BTC of the Vietnam Finance Department.
According to the amendment, the stamp fees for multiple entry visas are indicated as bellows:
– Less than 1 month: 65 USD
– Less than 6 months: 95 USD
– More than 6 months: 135 USD
It means that a 1 month multiple entry visa will also be less than 6 month multiple entry visa. Consequently, you will have to pay 95 USD for 1 month multiple entry visas even you apply for 1 month entry visa. However, the question is how travelers can get less than 1 month multiple entry visas while the minimum length of visa they can apply for is only 1 month. Then as an experienced travel agent, we offer you a tip below:
Tip:
Since the number of days in a month is not fixed, sometimes it has 29, 30 or 31 days based on the month, please choose the month for travelling that has less than 30 days if you want to save money. Another method is to visit Vietnam later than your entry visa date several days in case you only want pay 65 USD for stamp fee.
For example, in the approval letter, you are allowed to enter and exit Vietnam during 2nd August to 2nd September. However, if you enter Vietnam on 4th August, you just have to pay 65 USD for stamp fee since you will stay less than 30 days.
