6:30 AM – 7:30 AM: Having breakfast
Let’s start your special day with a bowl of bun bo Hue. It is the soup with rice vermicelli and beef. And it is more special when you enjoy it at the place this food was created.Having a hot red bowl of bun bo Hue with a little bit chili, lemon and fresh herbs will help you gain enough energy for a traveling day.
8 AM – 11:30 AM: Visiting royal tombs
Tomb of Minh Mang: this place should be the first one to visit. This tomb was built in 1840 to inter King Minh Mang. With 18 ha of total area, it is a standard architecture complex consisting of 40 constructions (palaces, temples, pavilions, etc.) designed on a symmetric axis running from Dại Hong Gate to the foot of La Thanh (Surrounding Wall).
Tomb of KhaiDinh: is the tomb of the 12th king of Nguyen Dynasty. It was started to construct in 1920 and took 11 years to complete. The overall construction of the tomb is an emerging rectangular structure with 127 steps, leaning against the mountain. Its architecture is the combination of interminglement of many architecture trends: Asian and Earopean, the modern and the ancient, etc.
Tomb of TuDuc: it is one of the most beautiful works of royal architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty, which lie on a poetic boundless pine forest. The combination of ancient imperial temples, tombs, palaces and romantic sceneries of lakes, mounts, forests will make you feel impressive.
12 AM – 1 PM: Having lunch
For lunch, you should stop at the southern bank of Huong River to try famous Nam Pho banhcanh (soup cake). It made from thick noodle with crab ball and pork. You will definitely like its taste when you enjoy it.
1:30 PM – 3 PM: Visiting Imperial City (Dai Noi)
You should spend more time to discover the most important monument in Hue which was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. It used to be the political-administrative central of the Nguyen Dynasty and also where the royal family lived. It contains Hoang Thanh (Royal Citadel) and Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden Citadel) with various historical and cultural values.
5:30 PM – 7 PM: Enjoying Com Hen (baby basket claim rice)
Com Hen is the one of the most well-known specialty in Hue and you should not miss this dish. It is a bowl of steaming rice, stir-fried claim caught from Huong River, various species of fresh vegetable and herb, roast peanut, fried grease, etc. and serve with fish sauce. Enjoying a special food will help your experiences of Hue city much deeper.
7:30 PM – 8:30: Take a boat trip on Huong River
The poetic river of Huong (Perfume) is the symbol of Hue City. The river is even more beautiful at night. Taking a boat to see the life on two banks and feel the quiet and sweet atmosphere on the boat. You also can join a boat with royal refined music bands (NhaNhacCungDinh) to listen beautiful music.
9PM – 10 PM: Taking a walk and try some street food
Spend the rest of your day to walk around the city or along Huong River to feel the slow and peaceful life in here. You can also try some awesome street local foods such as sweet porridge, beo cake, bot loc cake, etc.
